Stefan Schäfer is familiar with the phenomenon of music from many different perspectives. In his output, decades of experience as an orchestral and chamber-music double bass player just as a passionate theatrical and band musician combine with a composer´s outlook.
Schäfer´s catalogue of compositions includes numerous works for his own instrument as well as songs, chamber music and orchestral works, which have been performed at renowned concert halls and won composition prizes in England and the USA.
The present chamber music album is also due to his work with Ensemble Acht, the chamber music formation which has been Stefan Schäfer´s artistic home and source of inspiration throughout his entire professional career.
On this recording an octet in the original formation of clarinet, bassoon, horn and string quintet is combined with a piano quintet, a string quintet an a horn quintet.
